Traditional Kähler design by Svend Hammershøi
Bauer drew on the traditional designs of Kähler designer Svend Hammershøi, who was known beyond Denmark as a painter and ceramicist. Many of Hammershøi's designs can still be found in some of the world's most renowned museums. He was particularly known for his large, voluminous vases with a distinctive profile, which he worked into the ceramics by hand.
Based on Hammershøi's designs, Hans-Christian Bauer has created a timeless tableware series that – like the original – features hand-finished groove details. Besides their distinctive look, the grooves also have practical benefits: they make cups easier to hold and storage jars easier to open.
The timeless, elegant design is just as suitable for a relaxed Sunday brunch as for festive dinners, where the combination of raw materials and traditional details turns the tableware into a special table decoration.
