Designer Kettle with a Musical Twist
The " 9091 " kettle by Richard Sapper was Alessi ’s first designer kettle and, in 1983, heralded a new era for kettles—both for Alessi itself and for many other kettle manufacturers. It is suitable for electric, gas, and induction stoves. The true centerpiece of the kettle is its brass pipes, which produce two-note sounds—E and B—and create a harmonious melody as soon as steam is blown through them. In his kettle design for Alessi , Richard Sapper wanted to avoid the obtrusive whistling sound of conventional kettles. This musical challenge ultimately resulted in the “ 9091 ” kettle, which is interpreted as the first multisensory design at Alessi .
