A bowl made of small tiles
“ La Stanza dello Scirocco ” is a fruit bowl with a poetic backstory. Designer Mario Trimarchi drew inspiration for his fruit bowl from the contemplative and quiet atmosphere of a room inside the large, old country houses of Sicily. According to his own account, he spent time in that room to escape the sweltering heat and wait until the dreaded Scirocco wind had finally subsided. It was & “a room without windows, where one does nothing but think of the wind that’s out there, whirling the things of the world about &,” the designer recalls. From this memory emerged “ La Stanza dello Scirocco ,” a series of objects whose shape is reminiscent of small pieces of paper swirling about in the wind. Mario Trimarchi describes “ & ” La Stanza dello Scirocco & as & “a collection of asymmetrical objects with arrhythmic geometric shapes, consisting of small plates of varying sizes that are connected only at individual points in a seemingly fragile construction. & ”
