Architect Mario Trimarchi drew inspiration for the Ossidiana espresso machine from the volcanic rock of the same name found in his native Sicily. Extensive research into the combination of sculpture and design ultimately led to an object that suggests a new ergonomic approach: it fits perfectly in the hand and is easy to open and close. A product whose form is deliberately modeled after a prehistoric stone—one of humanity’s first tools. With the Ossidiana espresso maker, designer Mario Trimarchi returns to the origins of coffee culture. The sculptural espresso maker, crafted from high-quality cast aluminum, is available in various sizes, allowing for the preparation of 1 or 3 cups of espresso.
