Distinctive Bird Sculptures
Icelandic designer Sigurjón Pálsson has Shorebird a series of bird sculptures full of character. The birds from Normann Copenhagen are turned from solid wood. The simple silhouettes of these decorative birds give them Shorebird a nearly stylized appearance. At the same time, the small details have been carefully crafted. This gives each bird its own unique personality, making the design interesting and lively.Curlew, Redshank, and Little Stint
The largest of the Shorebird is inspired by the Eurasian Curlew, which has a long neck and an elegantly downward-curving beak. It has a long-legged, aristocratic appearance. It walks about with slow, deliberate steps, looking around alertly. The middle bird from Normann Copenhagen is fast and lively, like a redshank. We often find this bird in the company of other waders. And finally, there’s the little stint—a sociable little bird that’s often found in large flocks.A Fascination
Since Childhood Sigurjón Pálsson says: & “I’ve been fascinated by birds since I was a child. I’ve been observing birds for as long as I can remember. So it was clear that sooner or later I would incorporate birds into my designs. The natural light brown of oak wood closely resembles the plumage of the birds that inspired my designs. The various poses are modeled after the natural postures of wading birds as they search for food in the sand and along the coast. The colorful legs and beaks complete the look. & ” The large Shorebird looks great on a shelf, sideboard, or dresser. There, alongside vases and other decor, it really shines in all its beauty. The two smaller birds from Normann Copenhagen are ideal for displaying as a group, where the different sizes and colors create a stylish and playful impression.
