The designer Simon Legald designed the carpets series Oona for Normann Copenhagen – a hand knitted carpet in a clear, graphic design. Oona plays with forms and contrasts. Clear lines and soft curves make up three unique carpet forms – and they aren’t round or square. A deeply woven line in a darker tone is the graphic element of the otherwise monochromic carpets.
Simon Legald often concentrates on details in his designs. For example, he designed a different radius of the edges of the three carpets, varying the shape, but keeping the apparent connection. Simon Legald explains: “I tried to design a carpet which would reach some decorative elements especially by its shape. The embossing, straight line marks the shape of the carpets as small detail. It ensures asymmetry and it is a visual contrast for the soft curves of the edges.”
Normann Copenhagen manufactures the Oona of 100% New Zealand wool. Oona is available in three sizes and in pink, mint and grey. The carpets are versatile, for example they can be used in the dining room, under the couch table, besides the bed or as connecting element in a foyer or a big hall.
