Lighting series with hi-fi inspiration: For Normann Copenhagen the Danish designer Simon Legald has created the sophisticated lighting series Amp created. Glass and marble provide optical lightness and sensual heaviness. A nostalgic and modern look at the same time.

The idea for the shape of the Amp pendant lamp came about when designer Simon Legald was restoring an old radio from the 1960s at home. While looking for a replacement part for the radio, he noticed the glimmer of the tube amplifier. The simple oval shape and the L amp en screen refer to it - as does the name Amp , the English name for tube amplifier. The proportions of the Amp luminaires from Normann Copenhagen are carefully worked out.

Normann Copenhagen and Legald have emphasised the functional details, for example the way the shade rests on the base of the pendant lamp. Amp the pendant lamp rests on the base. The combination of the two natural materials creates an interesting contrast between the transparent, light glass and the solid, heavy marble.

Simon Legald tells: "Sometimes you can't really put your finger on why an idea for a new object comes about. But in this case, the inspiration came directly from a radio and hi-fi equipment. This is evident in the design of Amp very clearly. There is something very special about the round, transparent shape of a tube. I thought it would go very well with an L amp e. I chose a type of glass that is also used for hourglasses, among other things. The shape should be curvy and waisted. I chose marble to counterbalance the dainty glass. I think the two materials go well together."

The Amp Lights are supplied with matching textile cable. The shade can be removed without tools to replace the bulb. The Normann Copenhagen Amp is also available as a dimmable Amp table lamp .

Both versions are available with a amp shade in gold or smoke colours. The Amp pendant lamp is available with a socket in striking black marble or in glamorous jade green, which emphasises the natural elegance of the material.
