A Danish designer with a minimalist formal language
Architect, designer and professor Bodil Kjær (born 1932) spent her childhood in Jutland, Denmark, and later travelled to London in the UK and to New York and Washington, D.C., in the USA to study and work. Today, her CV runs to more than 50 pages. Over the course of her career, she has worked with some of the most renowned architects and designers, including Danish architect Arne Jacobsen and American designer Paul McCobb.
Alongside her many collaborations, she has also made a name for herself in her own right. Without a strict career plan, she has set new standards – always striving to get better and better. The Cross-Plex table lamp, for example, is one of her most popular designs and an excellent example of her minimalist yet functional approach. Bodil Kjær aims to create solutions to functional, economic and aesthetic problems and refers to her own designs as architectural elements.
