Front Design is a female design duo from Stockholm in Sweden. Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren met at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design. What their work has in common is that it throws conventional ideas overboard – both in the product itself and in the manufacturing process.
For one line of home accessories, for example, the duo enlisted the help of real animals. Rats gnawed wallpaper, beetles ate into table surfaces and the flight path of flies around a light created a lampshade design. One furniture collection was presented under the motto "Furniture to fall in love with at first sight, or hate forever". With their exciting, provocative designs, the duo has made its mark internationally.
Fascinated by magic, the two designers want to create furniture and home accessories that have a life of their own and move people – even if they are irrational. Compromise is foreign to them, so they experiment freely. That's why the Stockholm duo is now regarded as a young, sought-after team attracting attention worldwide. The creative, unconventional Horse Lamp for Moooi is a striking example of their original style.
