Italian designer
Designer Paola Navone was born in Turin (Italy) in 1950. She graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Torino in 1973, and in 1974 she began working with Alessandro Mendini and Ettore Sottsass at the legendary "Studio Alchimia". The Italian designer is regarded as a modern nomad, moving between continents. She has worked in Hong Kong as well as in Morocco and Malaysia, and still spends time in Italy, especially in Milan. Since 1998, Paola Navone has been creative director of the Italian furniture manufacturer "Gervasoni".
Paola Navone works with renowned names in design furniture, including Driade, Knoll, Alessi, Casamilano and Molteni & C., to name just a few. Her style is shaped by impressions from many different countries, expressed in extravagant patterns and a distinctive mix of opulent and understated elements. For her design vision, the editors of the German magazine Architektur & Wohnen named Paola Navone A&W Designer of the Year 2000.
