Flos lighting: visionary design that conquered the world

Flos was founded in Merano in Italy in 1962 by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina. From the very beginning, the lighting manufacturer worked closely and exclusively with renowned Italian designers. The first Flos lights, such as Arco, Relemme, Toio and Taccia, were designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. It was also the Castiglioni brothers who helped launch the company as a design project.

In 1964, Flos moved its headquarters from Merano to Brescia, and Sergio Gandini joined the company as a further partner. In 1974, Flos achieved another success by acquiring the long-established, world-famous company Arteluce.

The variety of Flos lamps and international awards

Over the decades, the Italian manufacturer has tried its hand at virtually every type of light. Ceiling lights, floor lamps, pendant lights, table lamps and wall lights – Flos covers a wide range. Every one of them is defined by modern design, high-quality workmanship and carefully chosen materials.

Over its long history, Flos has produced many internationally successful products, such as the Flos Arco floor lamp (1962), the Parentesi ceiling light (1970), the Brera pendant light (1992), the Fucsia pendant light (1996) and the Diabolo ceiling light (1998). With Parentesi, designers Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù even won the coveted Compasso d'Oro design award in 1979.

Flos continues to grow in popularity and can look back on a long tradition. With expert foresight and visionary plans, Flos looks to the future with confidence.
