Cobra Table Lamp

{h2} Table Lamp – A Versatile Design Icon: The Cobra Table Lamp from Martinelli Luce {/h2} The {b} Cobra table lamp {/b} from {b} Martinelli Luce {/b} demonstrates how clear geometry can give rise to a surprisingly vibrant lighting object. Elio Martinelli designed the lamp in 1968 as one of the first lamps to be produced using a special resin molding process. When closed, its two molded components form a geometric shape that can be inscribed within a sphere. When the upper part is rotated, the silhouette resembles the raised head of a cobra—hence the distinctive name. The lower lamp body rotates on a steel base. It is connected to the upper element via a central joint, allowing for 360-degree rotation. This enables the direct light to be flexibly directed, allowing the Cobra to be used both as a functional reading lamp and as a sculptural light object. The internal reflector is made of white-painted aluminum, while the frame and base are crafted from molded synthetic resin. With a diameter and height of 40 cm each, the Cobra has a striking, balanced presence on sideboards, end tables, or desks. The standard versions are available in glossy white, black, and red. The E27 socket is designed for an LED bulb of up to 12 watts; the bulb is not included. Thus, the Cobra combines distinctive form, adjustable functionality, and Italian design history in a design that remains unique to this day.
