Piero Lissoni was born in Seregno, Italy, in 1956. After studying architecture in Milan, he initially worked as a designer for Molteni and Lema.

In 1986, he and Nicoletta Canesi founded the Milan studio "Lissoni Associati". Based in a former silk factory in the heart of Milan, Lissoni works mainly in interior architecture and product design.

As art director and designer, he has worked for many years for numerous renowned companies such as Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Matteograssi, Porro and Thonet. He designs showrooms, exhibitions, furniture and corporate identities. His recent work includes the "S 44" skid-base chair for Thonet and the Boffi showrooms in New York and Los Angeles in the USA and in Milan. The interiors of luxury hotels such as the Monaco & Grand Canal in Venice and the Bentley Design Hotel in Istanbul in Turkey bear his signature, as do many private villas and sailing yachts.

Lissoni has also worked with the Italian lighting manufacturer Artemide since 1993. In 1999, Piero Lissoni received the renowned Red Dot Award for his Supersoft armchair with armrests.

Piero Lissoni is one of Italy's most successful designers, yet he rarely appears in the media. He doesn't think in pigeonholes and sees his design as a language rather than a style that can be categorised. For Lissoni, what counts is "form and emotion" alone.
