A Spanish designer in Milan in Italy
Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain, in 1961. She first studied at the Faculty of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain. In 1989, she graduated from the Politecnico di Milano, where she also worked as an assistant to Achille Castiglioni from 1990 to 1992.
From 1990 to 1996, Patricia Urquiola also worked in the product development office at De Padova, where she collaborated with Vico Magistretti. In 1996, she joined the Milan studio "Lissoni Associati", founded by Piero Lissoni, as head of design.
In 2001, Patricia Urquiola opened her own office for design, installations and architecture. Here she works for the who's who of Italian design, with clients including B&B Italia, Driade, Molteni, Moroso and Foscarini.
