Surprising design with a certain timelessness
Sebastian Herkner's distinctive designs are driven by deep curiosity and a strong love of travel, which constantly gives him new inspiration.
Since studying design at the Offenbach University of Art and Design, Sebastian Herkner has been based in Offenbach in Germany. From there, he works on up to 12 projects at a time. Companies such as Rosenthal, Pulpo and ClassiCon are keen to work with him on furniture, lighting, home accessories and tableware.
Herkner gained a deep understanding of colours, materials and how they combine during an internship with Stella McCartney in London in the UK, where he also learned how important observation is.
Today, Herkner prefers to observe while travelling, collecting ideas and inspiration for his designs. Sometimes it's African craftsmanship, sometimes everyday objects from Japan that inspire him. He captures his impressions in photographs. Sebastian Herkner reinterprets unusual colours and materials he encounters on his travels and combines them with current manufacturing methods to create contemporary yet timeless products.

Herkner's surprising designs have won numerous awards, such as the Red Dot Award for the Bell side table by ClassiCon, the German Design Award, the Wallpaper* Design Award and the Interior Innovation Award for his vase series for Rosenthal.
