Last Stool

Stool – Stripped Down to the Essentials with the Last Stool by Hem

A single piece of metal, a clear idea, and a surprising array of possibilities: The Last Stool Hem was designed by Max Lamb with the goal of creating a particularly durable, basic, and functional stool. It is crafted from a single sheet of metal that is pressed into its characteristic shape. This construction makes the stool exceptionally sturdy while also giving it its minimalist, industrial aesthetic.

A wide recessed grip in the seat makes it easy to lift and move. With a base measuring 32 × 32 cm and a height of 44 cm, the Last Stool has compact proportions and can be used flexibly with a variety of tables. It can also serve as a small side table. Up to ten stools can be stacked to save space.

Depending on the version, the Last is available in copper or brass—whose surfaces develop a patina over time—as well as in solid-color or hand-splattered enamel. With the splatter versions, this means that every stool is one-of-a-kind. The Last stool is manufactured in Italy.
