Description

Limited Edition of 1000 numbered and by Marc Newson hand-signed specimen in linen coated slipcase.

Chairs, restaurants and household devices, airport-lounges and even a space shuttle: When it comes to design, Marc Newson loves fast changes. Whether mass production or sculptural marble grounds in gallery editions as well as fashion of interiors; the Australian crosses borders becoming the superstar of his future.

These book presents Marc Newson’s universe of things in encyclopaedic form, starting with his early designs such as the Lockheed Lounge (with an auction result of two million dollars, being the most expensive designer’s furniture piece of the world) up to younger projects such as the auto study 021C for Ford, the interior design of the Qantas-Airbus A380 or the Aquariva motor boat.

Marc Neswon. Works includes:
• His work in categories: soon works, furniture, interior architecture, product design, clocks and jewellery, transport as well as unpublished projects.
• A chronologic pictures index about Newson’s complete work.
• Author comments from Laszlo Adams, Alison Castle, Nicholas Foulkes, Louise Neri and Alice Rawsthron.
• Marc Newson about himself, his work and the world: a dialogue with Louise Neri, directress of the New York Gagosian Gallery.

His designs are meanwhile findable in the design collections of nearly all the big museum. Newson is design professor at the Sydney College of the Arts and at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.
