Poetic, light as a feather and immaculately white, Icarus is reminiscent of the human dream of flying: the connection between humans and heavenly light.
The Icarus pendant lamp is made from multiple layers of polyester that are cut out to be reminiscent of a bird’s wings. If light penetrates outside through Icarus’ centre, the feathers shine in an impressive silhouette.
The natural design of Icarus, reminiscent of a swan’s feathers, was created by Tord Boontje. He developed the impressive design while experimenting with three-dimensional objects cut out of paper. The overlapping scraps of paper, with hints of dynamics, reminded Boontje of a bird’s wings. From this realisation, he designed the Icarus pendant lamp for Artecnica in 2005.
Icarus comes with a cone-shaped safety protector so you can securely fit it to a ceiling cord. The ceiling cord itself is not included.
