Absolutely top-class design: The Good Design Award

The Good Design Award (GDA) is one of the most coveted design awards in the world. The promoter, organizer and benefactor of the Good Design Award is the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design. It is Chicago's most prestigious cultural institution and the only museum of its kind in the United States of America. The decision-making criteria of the jury, which is made up of company representatives, international diplomats and professionals from the design and art scene, are primarily innovation, form, material, construction, concept, function, utility and aesthetic impression of the products....
Winners of the GDA are allowed to use the prestigious Good Design logo on their products, designed by legendary graphic designer Mort Goldsholl.

From paper clips to space shuttles

Founded back in 1950 by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr, the Good Design Award is presented annually to sophisticated and innovative designs. The founding team is as high-profile as the award itself: For example, design legends Charles and Ray Eames and Alexander Girard were involved in the GDA.
The Good Design Award is one of the oldest and most traditional design prizes awarded worldwide. The range of entries from over 50 countries is enormous: from paper clips to the space shuttle. Selected pieces are presented at the three annual shows.

Every year, around 3000 entries from more than 40 nations are received, all of which want to secure one of the coveted trophies.
