Alvar Aalto designed his Siena pattern in 1954: a design, which would act architecturally clear as well as weightless. Aalto’s basic thought was to create a pattern for textiles, which would be useful for the most different purposes – Aalto’s second woman Elissa even had a dress in the Siena design.
The 180 x 130 cm Siena blanket consists of 100% noble merino wool. The wool of the merino sheep is much finer and it doesn’t scratch on the skin contrasting “normal “ sheep wool.
The blanket of the collection by Artek is wonderfully integrated in different living areas and it is also combinable with other pieces of the series because of the timeless design of the Siena series.
