Alvar Aalto designed his Siena pattern in 1954: a design, which appears architecturally clear as well as weightless. Aalto’s basic idea was to create a pattern for textiles, which would be useful for different purposes – Aalto’s second wife Elissa even had a dress in the Siena design.
The 180 x 130 cm Siena blanket is 100% made from noble merino wool. The wool of the merino sheep is much finer and doesn’t scratch against the skin, unlike ‘normal’ wool.
Thanks to the timeless design of the Siena series, the blanket from Artek’s collection can be integrated outstandingly into any living environment and combined similarly with other items from the series.
