Floor lamp with cable as stand
Electric cables are usually a necessary evil. They provide the power supply for electrical devices, but also often act as a tripping hazard or as an unsightly "cable clutter" in the corner.
So why not make a virtue out of necessity, thought the three Swedish designers of "Form Us With Love", and made the cable the supporting design element of the luminaire Cord Lamp for the Design House Stockholm .
Optical illusion
From the tangle of cables on the floor, the luminaire extends straight up into the air and is crowned by a simple round or optionally narrow light bulb. This optical illusion is made possible by a narrow steel tube covered with the black and white textile fabric characteristic of cables. The transition between tube and cable is thus invisible and guarantees the surprise effect when the cable rises from the tangle and begins to shine.
