The Fruit Tree Cushion is manufactured by the American manufacturer Maximo after a design from Alexander Girard. The pattern of the Fruit Tree Cushion shows a playful and colourful motive that can be recognized as a collection of fruits-carrying trees, as the name reveals. The cushion consists of 55% linen and 45% cotton.
Alexander Girard developed products as textiles designer, architect, interior designer and collector from 1952 to 1975 in leading positions of textiles departments at Herman Miller Materials and Patterns that go together with the most innovative furniture pieces of their time. Also the design of the Fruit Tree cushion emerged then; today it is the original design from Alexander Girard which is manufactured by the American manufacturer Maximo.
Girard counts to the most embossing characters of the American post-war design together with Georg Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames. The designs of Girard are still manufactured by companies such as Maximo, Herman Miller, Vitra and others. They haven’t lost any of their timeliness.
