The fascination of good shape

Mono is closely connected with the names of renowned designers who often rethink about objects to provide them with formative designs. Mono products stand for high quality materials as well as an accurate technical production.

An intrinsic sense for the quality of life and a demanding discernment in matters of design has been the cornerstone of the family owned enterprise. For generations, mono, which is headquartered in Mettmann, has been producing flatware and table accessories crafted to perfection and aesthetically timeless. Therefore, the legendary mono-a, which is internationally vaunted as a design classic, has outlived fashions for decades.

The level of innovation, design quality, and superior manufacturing standards implemented for each and every item, have made mono what it is today – „a lifestyle enhancer“.

Wilhelm Seibel I, established the Seibel Britannia Goods Factory in 1895. In 1911 the first branch factory, Hessische Metallwerke Gebr. Seibel was founded. The company attained global recognition in 1936 with its Olympia Flatware furnished for the Olympic Village in Berlin. Thanks to the very healthy economy of the post-war years, staffing increased to almost 1000. In the '50s a major decline in the flatware industry resulted in the demise of almost 90% of all German manufacturers. Thanks to the bold leadership of Herbert Seibel, a grandson of the founder, who steered the company towards design oriented products, a catastrophe was avoided for the Hessische Metallwerke.
