Vitra Eames RAR Rocking Armchair with Plastic Seat Shell
The Plastic Armchairs were presented for the first time in 1948 as part of the ‘Low Cost Furniture Design’ contest at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The organically shaped seat shell made of glass fibre-reinforced plastic was later combined with different frames, e.g. the RAR rockers, and produced in their millions. In their current polypropylene version, the armchairs offer improved seat comfort.
The Eames RAR rocking armchair from the Eames Plastic Armchairs in the Vitra Home Collection is available in various colours.
