Side Table with 3 Glass Surfaces
The Dutch Designer Carolina Wilcke designed the Tangled Side Table as part of the Tangled series, which also includes a coffee table and a sideboard. The trained goldsmith used architecture as an important source of inspiration. The collection is thus inspired by steel window frames, as they were often used formely in industrial buildings.
Interlocking Geometric Elements
Through experimentation with various steel profiles, the designer developed two geometric elements that worked together. Thus, with perfect proportions, the steel frames are combined with 3 glass surfaces, that serve as table tops on different levels.
Practical and Decorative Use
The table, which has three table surfaces, is very dynamic and can be used practically and decoratively at the same time. The bottom table top can be used, for example, to keep picture books, magazines, or other items. Due to the transparency of the surfaces, these become decorative objects. The highest table top remains free for coffee cups or wine glasses. A table that seems to follow the motto "Form Follows Function" and also becomes a real eye-catcher in the living room.
The frame consists of epoxy-lacquered steel profiles in matt black. The glass plates are securely fixed on. Due to the material combination, the design appears to be delicate and subtle, yet at the same time strong and stable.
