Retro Lamp from the 70s
The basic idea behind the Panthella table lamp was to design a lamp, whose base as well as shade is used as a reflector. The Panthella table lamp was designed in 1971 by Verner Panton for Louis Poulsen. The original draft has a diameter of 400 mm.
Verner Panton wanted the Panthella to have a metal lampshade, but in 1971 it was impossible to realise technologically. For this reason it can now be said that this is a world premiere, as the Panthella Mini is now available based on the original designs with a metallic lampshade. It’s painted white on the inside and directs light downwards, from where it is reflected by the trumpet foot upwards and into the room.
Mushroom Lamp
The organic design of the Panthella table lamp is based on the shape of a mushroom. The lamp has a chrome-plated orb on its top. Besides giving the lamp a nice look, this ball is used to lift the lamp’s cover plate to replace the bulb. Unrequired cabling can also be stored in the base of the table lamp.
Panton’s Colours
The colours come from Verner Panton’s last project shortly before his death in 1998, the ‘Light and Colour’ exhibition in the Trapholt design museum in Kolding: yellow, orange, violet, red, pink, blue and two shades of green. The Panthella Mini is also available in white, black and opal acrylic.
Equipped with an LED light source, the Panthella Mini has three lighting levels, which can be adjusted as needed.
