Table lamp with dimming function
Already in 1980 the Tokio lamp as one of the last products of the renowned design company Stilnovo. The creative director of Please wait to be seated rediscovered the design of the desk lamp in a book and decided to revive the design. In collaboration with the original designer Asahara, essential features of the lamp were changed. The Tokio desk lamp by PWTBS shines in a modified size and with dimmable LED light. The dimming function makes the lamp suitable Tokio lamp is suitable both as a bright desk lamp and as a cozy reading lamp in the living room.
Based on the original design by Asahara
The original design of the Tokio lamp from the 80s combined functionality and flexibility. The mailbox-like lampshade is supported by an adjustable arm that can be moved in any direction. The Tokio lamp was designed for the prestigious Italian design award Compasso d'Oro and is part of the collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
Japanese Designer Shigeaki Asahara
Japanese designer Shigeaki Asahara has been working in product design since the early 1980s. His designs focus on the balance between the technical properties of materials and the aesthetics of nature. Asahara wants the mechanism of his products to make them something beautiful and refined, but also intuitive and accessible to everyone.
