Fredericia - The Spanish & Hunting Chairs Collection

Armchair in saddle leather and wood

The Spanish Chair and the Hunting Chair were designed by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia. Both chairs are made of solid wood and leather. The two rustic armchairs are characterised by an open solid wood frame and seat and backrest in leather, which can be adjusted with buckles in solid brass.

Hunting Chair

The Hunting Chair by Fredericia was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1950 and is the designer's first piece of furniture in wood and saddle leather. The chair was produced especially for an exhibition of the Copenhagen Carpenters' Guild with the motto "The Hunting Cabin". Particularly striking is the extremely low-lying seat of the armchair, which makes it an eye-catcher then as now.

Spanish Chair

In 1958, during a trip through Spain, Mogensen was inspired by traditional Spanish armchairs to create a second chair in leather and wood. The extra wide armrests of Spanish armchairs serve as storage space for glasses, cups or smaller objects. This means that the user does not have to rely on any other piece of furniture such as a side table to make himself comfortable in the armchair for hours on end.

The Spanish Chair and the Hunting Chair by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia are made from the best materials with the utmost care and precision. The rustic and natural materials also develop a unique patina that becomes more beautiful over time.
