What characterizes your blog? What are your themes and specialties?

Sodapop includes everything that makes the world prettier, in my opinion. I focus on design and handmade. I show my readers current trends and present shops. But do-ip-yourself ideas or self-made printable pieces are part of my blog.

Who is your blog directed to? Who do you want to reach with it?

I don’t really direct my blog to a determinate group of people – but I think the majority of my readers are women. Readers that are interested in design and that have a style, similar to mine.

There are uncountable novelties by designers, brands, new products, etc. How and according to which criteria do you select themes for your blog out of this grand pool of information?

I read blogs, uncountable magazines and online magazines. Also platforms such as Pinterest are good sources of inspiration. I put everything I like on the blog – simply things, that I would also buy for myself, even if the budget only permits a little of it.

What are your sources for new themes? Do you often search for them or do people contact you?

I mostly search for things on my own – whereby I would rather say that the things find me. But I am always thankful for my reader’s tips.

Do you read some other blogs about design? What blogs do you find especially succeeded regarding their appearance and content?

I read many blogs… if I started with a list now… puh. But there is the category “Blog of the week” on my blog. I present my favourite blogs every week there.

Is the blog a hobby of yours or do you even run it professionally? If not: do you regularly contact the design universe in your job and how do you connect both things?

It is my hobby to blog – and I have the chance that my boss doesn’t only tolerate that, he also supports it.

If you find an interesting theme, you will have to work through it, write an article and provide the whole thing with images. How much time do you invest in your blog every day? Do you limit yourself according to “not more than X posts a day“?

I use to post 3 times every week. Of course it takes time – but what a hobby doesn’t?

What fascinates you from home design and design as a general concept?

As a graphic designer, design belongs to my life and I cannot limit my interest on print design. I think I bought my first “Schöner Wohnen” when I was 16…

If you work this much with design, there are surely some sympathies. Are there design brands that you especially like and can you explain why?

Generally I like classic pieces, such as the Rocking Arm Chair by Eames. You can’t really go wrong with such a classic. But “new” brands, such as Muuto, Hay or Gubi count to my favourites.

Do you have a favourite designer? What do you like the most at him / her and the creations?

No, I don’t have a favourite designer. But I generally like Scandinavian design ;)

What products impressed you lately?

Puh, there were a few: the re-edition of the String shelf by Nisse Strinning, or the round mirror “Adnet” by Gubi. But also the “E27” by Muuto.

Which products do you already have in your flat? What convinces you as private person and not so much as blogger regarding products?

I am happy with my Verner Panton shells lamp at home and with the already named Rocking Arm Chair. But I think the mix makes it! Besides such expensive furniture , there is also a lot by Ikea in my home. But also some things I found on the flea market, such as an ancient kidney-shaped table or publicity letters. My newest treasure is a sports horse. The products I buy must simply suit my style. I often need a lot of time to decide what a new piece of furniture I buy. I hardly ever buy something out of whim.
