The centrepiece made of natural beech wood is part of the “Dressed in Wood” Collection by Marcel Wanders for Alessi. The centrepiece is produced in the Italian Strona valley, like all of the wooden products of the Dressed Collection. Wooden accessories are produced combining traditional craftsmanship with modern high-tech production leaning on the tradition of general wood processing.
The plate with a diameter of 39 cm is made of massive beech wood. The natural, untreated wooden structure of the centrepiece is ornamented by a floral relief border. The decoration was incorporated in the plate by means of laser technique and it was manually worked afterwards. The beauty of the structures is kept by means of cleaning the plates with a tamp sponge and by means of carefully drying them afterwards.
The natural materials used for the production of the centrepieces are the reason for the uniqueness of each one of them.
Please note that the bowls are made of untreated beech wood. The centrepiece is therefore only suitable to serve fruit or similar, dry aliments, since the fruits’ acid and humid products might damage the wooden structure (if the wood isn’t treated). Also in our blog:
