Solo as stool or two combined to a bench – the stool named “Schemel” (German for 'footstool') features a simple and minimalist design and impresses with high functionality. The footstool's design comes from Studio taschide.
Schemel is manufactured by the Caritas Wendelstein workshop in Rosenheim/Raubling for side by side. Schemel consists of untreated oak wood. The German company side by side stands for close cooperation between designers and handicapped people, just “side by side”.
"Design mit sozialem Charakter“ ('design with social character') was founded by the product designer Sabine Meyer in 2002 and introduced onto the market with the Caritas Wendelstein workshop. Meanwhile more than 30 designers create high quality and pretty living accessories for the daily use. That is how side by side enables social integration to handicapped people as well as participation in professional works.
