Luxus Table lamp in Bauhaus style
Designed by German silversmith Christian Dell from the early 1930s, the KAISER Idell lamp 6631 -T Luxus essentially embodies the style of the Bauhaus movement of the time. The luminaire is characterised by its formal unity and at the same time impresses with only a few basic construction elements. The smooth-surfaced, asymmetrical reflector shade with a diameter of 290 mm determines the form. It is made of high-quality sheet steel and has a high-gloss exterior in the original colours of the time - black, ivory or black-green - and is wet-painted by hand. The ingenious shape of the reflector in combination with the optimal lamp position and the white interior paint allows a technically sophisticated light control.
Known from radio and television
The upper ball-and-socket joint that connects the reflector to the luminaire arm was only available in Kaiser luminaires of the idell series at the time. It is thus another essential distinguishing mark of absolute originality. The lower tilting joint, which serves to fix the lamp arm, has a shapely screw-on clamp, which is robust, but still appears filigree.
The luminaires 6631 -T Luxus even achieved world fame. In numerous versions, they have appeared on the screen time and again since the 1960s. They were particularly present on the desks of the famous TV commissioners and investigators. That is why the table model 6631 is also affectionately called the "Commissioner's lamp".
Design meets high-quality materials
The harmoniously shaped lamp arm visually takes up the silhouette of the reflector shade. It is made of pure brass and is artfully silver soldered to the adjoining joint parts and polished by hand. Finally, it itself, as well as all joints and screw connections, are chrome-plated to a high standard. The round lamp base, which is located at the base of the lamp arm, is decorated with a decorative ring, which is also made of brass, then polished and, if necessary, chrome-plated to a high standard. Internally provided with a cast plate, the foot not only ensures excellent stability, but also additionally rounds off the overall haptic impression.
