The nativity scene from A di Alessi creates a Christmas atmosphere with a humorous touch. The cartoonist and illustrator Massimo Giacon who was born in Padua in the year 1961 designed it. The wonderfully coordinated crib group is painted by hand and came to life with a great attention to detail.
With his interpretation of the nativity scene, Massimo Giacon entered the fascinating world of porcelain figurines. He especially grappled with the refined tradition of the European manufactures since the 18th century. With the porcelain Crib, Massimo Giacon reinterpreted Christmas nativity scene in a humorous style, in his own creative way.
A di Alessi and Massimo Giacon gave the porcelain figure genre a new direction and made them contemporary furnishing items. They are a lovingly reinterpretation of the tradition-steeped objects that were considered dusty and without function for a long time.
