While learning in the metal factory of the Bauhaus in Weimar did Marianne Brandt design in 1924 the astray MB 23 E, which is today produced by Tecnolumen.

The cylindric astray is made of polished stainless steel and convinces through its Bauhaus-typical, realistic and functional style. The top has a cigarette tray and a tilt mechanism. Ash and cigarette filters are easily put into the bin under it. The top is at the sametime a anti-syphon trap. Since this one a lot of other designer, and manufacturers created similar ashtrays like this one.

The ashtray MB 23 E by Marianne Brandt is real Bauhaus classic and a daily used object. The shape and the function are universsl and timeless.
