Crate Series No. 8 Low Chair

The elementary properties of a found wine crate continue to inspire Jasper Morrison and are again at play in this addition to the Crate Series. The utilitarian, essential nature of the series is reflected in this low chair with arms. The familiar fabric hinge, employed in each design of the Crate Series, is present and used to dramatic effect as a clever engineering element linking multiple wooden slats. These form a hanging seat suspended from a generous tabular steel frame.

The emphasis on genuine materials, proportions and usability is the thread that links this whole series and its evolution is a fascinating insight into how the most basic of objects can inspire a focused and considered collection of furniture. The Crate Series No.8 is suitable for light outdoor use.
