Bear pattern for Marimekko Anniversary
The pattern Karhuemo (Mother Bear) is based on a botanical sketch by Aino-Maija Metsola for the print Ruudut (Squares), which is a collaboration between four designers for Marimekko's Spring 2021 collection, the year of the company's 70th anniversary. To the flowers and leaves of the original sketch, Aino-Maija added a bear with its cub. The ground hums beneath the galloping mother bear, while the baby has stood up on its hind legs to watch the land.
