Moon is a chair by the designer Tokujin Yoshioka for the Italian manufacturer Moroso. Moon was presented to the public at the Milan furniture fair in 2011 for the first time and it constituted the focus of the Twilight installation by Moroso. With water and steam, the chair was immersed in a shiny twilight which particularly emphasised its elegant and light design.
The designer Tokujin Yoshioka was inspired by phenomena and processes surrounding us in nature. His main inspiration sources were light and shadows, as they are visible at night by the moon, who is the name giver of the chair. Japanese Yoshioka describes the design accordingly:
”Moon is a chair that takes its inspiration from the beauty of the light and the shadows of the moon – a fleeting moonlight that shines suddenly and disappears again.” Moroso offers the Moon Chair with its transparent, airy and soft lines and the elegant design in a matt and a lacquered version. The matt version of the chair is lightfast and waterproof, and therefore suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Both versions of Moon are available in white, grey and black.
