Tom Dixon. The Company was established in 2002 by Tom Dixon and David Begg. Since its foundation, the company has developed its own collection of contemporary objects including the well-known Mirror Ball and the new Copper Shade lamp series. Tom Dixon’s designs are certainly part of the top international design class, which is confirmed by exhibitions such as the Milan furniture fair and the London Design Museum, where Tom Dixon was nominated for the designer of the year.
Tom Dixon became famous for his early works, such as the S-Chair for Cappellini and the plastic lamp Jack, produced in a rotation procedure (for Eurolounge), which received the "Millennium Mark for Great British Design" in 1998. In addition, Tom Dixon was awarded with an OBE in 2000 for his services to British design.
Since 2004, there is a partnership between the company Tom Dixon and the corporation Proventus, which, in addition to Tom Dixon, also leads the company Artek, founded in the 1935 by Alvar Aalto and still produces his curved furniture designs.
