Unikko by Maija Isola
Unikko was created by Maija Isola in 1964 and has become an iconic symbol of print design. The founder of Marimekko , Armi Ratia, initially believed that it was impossible to capture the essence of real flowers in a print, which led to their exclusion from the collections. As a result, Isola designed Unikko as an abstract representation rather than a photorealistic image. Today, Unikko symbolizes joy and creativity and fits seamlessly into the design identity of Marimekko .
