Unikko by Maija Isola
Unikko was designed by Maija Isola in 1964 and has become an international symbol of print design. The founder of Marimekko , Armi Ratia, initially believed that it was impossible to reproduce the essence of real flowers in print, so they were excluded from the collections. As a result, Isola designed Unikko as an abstract representation rather than a photorealistic image. Today, Unikko symbolizes joy and creativity and fits seamlessly into the design identity of Marimekko .
