George Nelson for the Vitra Home Complements collection
The Vitra Home Complements collection combines iconic designs by designers like George Nelson with designs from younger designers. The collection includes design objects, home accessories and textiles. They are timeless companions for a special atmosphere. Among them, there are also a range of selected table and wall clocks from American designer George Nelson.
George Nelson worked for the furniture company Herman Miller as creative director for several years. At the same time, he designed table and wall clocks embodying the attitude to live during the 50s and 60s, and did so for the subsidiary company Howard Miller Clock Company.
Selected designs from these times can be found in the Home Complements collection by Vitra.
Polygon Clock The table and wall clocks by George Nelson are characterised by their avoidance of numerical clock faces.
That’s why many wall clocks by Nelson, including the Polygon Clock, feature an unusual appearance of 12 distinctive dots and hands of contrasting colours. The sculptural wall clock is a true-to-the-original reedition of the timepiece designed in 1961. It features high-quality material workmanship and a sculptural shape. The body of the unusual wall clock is produced from walnut wood.
The white hour hand and orange minute hand stand out, colour-wise, from the body and ensure that the time can be read easily. All Vitra clocks by George Nelson come with a high-quality quartz clockwork including battery.
