Foldable paper basket made of cork
The Nest waste paper basket from Form & Refine surprises with its multifunctional shape and the extraordinary Form & Refine materials. Thanks to the wooden handle, it can be carried comfortably and folded thanks to the soft cork to save space. The plastic look makes it a real eye-catcher in the office or in the kitchen. Wire rings in the bottom and at the top of the wastebasket provide the necessary stability.
Cork, oak and brass
The container is made of fine Portuguese cork, the two layers of which were sewn together by hand. The handle, on the other hand, is made of steamed oak and the screws are made of brass.
Design piece with history
The cork basket was originally designed for the “Furnishing Utopia” project. “Hands to Work”, the third in a series of exhibitions, explored the design legacy of the shaker. The exhibition was devoted to the topic “Household activities” and which objects are associated with it. The Nest cork Nest basket was a reinterpretation of the classic wastepaper basket and was also intended for other household uses, for example for storing magazines or as a collector for various everyday objects.
The designer Hallgeir Holmsvedt says about the product:“The most common activity that I do in the household is tidying up the apartment by bringing things where they belong - for example the laundry, the dishes or bottles and paper for recyling. Having a suitable item ready for this, such as a wastebasket in the study, makes this housework much more pleasant. I was fascinated by cork because of its natural appearance and properties. The handle is inspired by shaker buckets and baskets. ”
