Barstool made of solid oak
In 1942, the designer Jean Prouvé created the seating furniture, which can be regarded as the embodiment of traditional bar stools. Made of solid oak, the Vitra stool inspires with high-quality materials and a timeless design language.
Wooden barstool with footrest
When designing the Taboutet Haut Barstool, Jean Prouvé drew on a traditional type of bar stool that is still in common use today: a thin round seat resting on top of four long, canted legs.
A ring is mounted to the inside of the legs at about a third of their height from the floor, increasing the rigidity of the construction and also serving as a comfortable footrest. Prouvé’s interpretation of this classic type is distinguished by its simple, unpretentious appearance, lucid construction and harmonious proportions.
Material & colour
Vitra manufactures the Prouvé-typical, tapered legs and the seat of the Tabouret barstool in solid oak wood. The stool is available in two variants: in natural wood or in stained dark wood. The footrest consists of powder-coated steel, also Prouvé-typically making an aesthetic virtue out of a necessary part of the construction.
