Ergonomic high chair with a Danish history of tradition

The Shoemaker Chair from Form & Refine is a Danish classic from 1936 that adapts to any body shape and is versatile. The seat with its anatomically shaped curves is made of a large, solid piece of wood and is supported by the three chair legs. The T-connection between the legs contributes to the stability. Due to the naturally different wood grain, each chair is unique and brings Nordic aesthetics to the dining room or living room.

After the chair was first manufactured in 1936, the Werner family of wood turners spent three generations tweaking the shape of the Shoemaker chair, improving the design and production, and making the chair what it is today: a true archetypal classic. To this day, each one is produced in the family's own wood turnery, Gislev Drejerforretning, on the Danish island of Funen.

Beech and oak in different versions

Depending on the version, the Shoemaker Chair is made of solid European beech or oak. It is also available in various natural colours and heights. So it can be used equally as a bar stool, office or dining room chair.

The designers Werner say about the product: "We worked tirelessly to optimize the early versions of the chair, adjusting minor things each year, both in the production process and in the finished product. Among other things, the T-support was added between the legs for more stability, and the seat was changed in shape and rounded-if the chair falls over, the round profile now prevents the edge of the seat from breaking."
