Cute wooden figure in duck shape

In springtime they waddle proudly through Copenhagen: mother ducks and their offspring. This was also the case in 1959, when traffic came to a standstill in the municipality of Frederiksberg - not far from the Danish capital - because a policeman granted a young duck family the right of way.

The extraordinary and meaningful event was documented by photos in all the country's major daily newspapers the next day. The scene was thus etched into the collective Danish soul and has since become emblematic of the love and care for nature in our neighbouring country.

What does this have to do with Hans Bølling's wooden figures? The architect was not indifferent to the fact that the modern world was standing still in front of nature. And so he created a monument to the rescued duck family. He designed this pair of mother and offspring ducks, which carry the essence of the peaceful and harmonious Danish spring. And so their mild, wooden curves exude serenity and harmony wherever they waddle. Just like back in the spring of 1959...
