Traditional Hand-Woven Rug
The Kelim Rug Borders is a robust rug by ferm Living that combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern design. Kelims have adorned the walls and floors in Southwest Asia for thousands of years and are a popular item to create comfort in a room.
Just like the traditional Kelim rugs, the ferm Living models are handmade, which makes each rug unique. The weaving technique is called “Punja” and is one of the oldest weaving techniques in the world. The weave varies lightly from rug to rug depending on the person weaving it. There may also be small colour differences between different rugs as the yarn is hand-dyed. The wool used is certified by Woolmark.
Ferm Living was not only inspired by the weaving technique, but also by the design of the traditional rugs: geometric shapes and natural colours characterise the design of the hand-woven textiles. The pattern of the Kelim Rug Borders features straight lines that result in a combination of new shapes and surfaces.
The Kelim Rug Borders by ferm Living is available in three different sizes.
