‘Kishu Binchotan’ is a special activated coal made from Japanese holm oak. The Auerberg coal is burnt and activated by hand. Through the combination of activated coal and a unique pore structure, Binchotan purifies drinking water of chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and solvents such as benzene. Additionally, water is ionised.
The size of the carbon chunks is tailor made to the size of the water carafe in the glass series by the Bavarian Auerberg.
Handling and Care
Please use only tap water with the Binchotan activated coal.
Your Binchotan coal is already washed and ready for use. Please do not wash with solvent or soap. Please do not wash with aromatised tonics or juices. Please remove from the bottle you use it with before washing. By pouring boiling water over the Binchotan active coal, the impurities absorbed by it are released. Do not drink water that has been in contact with the Binchotan active coal for over 48 hours.
Occasionally you will find some tiny particles / fragments of the active coal in the water, though this is no reason to worry: swallowing these tiny particles is not harmful (active coal tablets are prescribed for treating diarrhoea, digestive disorders or bloating).
