The Children’s Chair N65 comes with a design typical of Alvar Aalto: with a round seating surface and L-shaped legs, it is a perfect fit in the Finnish design legend’s oeuvre. The designs of the Finnish still look modern today thanks to the combination of natural materials with clear, simple shapes.
But of course, Aalto wasn’t only considering the pretty shape when designing the predecessor of and inspiration for the children’s chair - the Chair 65: as an architect he also focussed on construction and practical usage.
Initially the Chair 65 was designed for the library in Wyborg, which is why the furniture also fulfils the practical demands of ergonomics and durability. Artek produces the Children’s Chair N65 from painted birch veneer. The four-legged chair is available with seating surfaces in black linoleum, white laminate or child-friendly Moomin troll decoration. The Children’s Stool NE60 and Children’s Table 90B match the Artek chair particularly well, as all three possess Aalto’s signature clarity and harmony.
