Unikko, the famous poppy pattern from Marimekko , was created in 1964 at a time when the design house was mainly presenting abstract prints. The designer Maija Isola tried to breathe creativity into this organic theme, resulting in a whole series of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower symbolizes creativity and remains a hallmark of Marimekko s design legacy.
