Tablecloth with geometric shapes
The woven tablecloth from Marimekko shows the Viitta -pattern. The edges of the tablecloth are sewn. 50% of the cotton used in this product is recycled.
Maija Isola's production of more than 500 fabric prints is an inexhaustible treasure trove. Viitta (Lighthouse) is one of her geometric designs from the 1960s, in which she explored the Constructivist movement that was emerging on the Finnish art scene at the same time, alongside Minimalism and other geometric trends. Constructivism originally emerged in Russia in the early 20. century and significantly influenced modern art and architecture such as the De Stijl and Bauhaus movements. Viitta shows the strict abstraction and uniform color surfaces characteristic of this art movement.
